Do the Astral Plane by me!!

Move to Burly has been completed. Job at new Starbucks started. Furniture acquired. Unpacking [pretty much] done.

I’ve been here for two weeks and I’ve already caught 4 awesome shows, not to mention the many nights of sweet sweet djs I’ve raged face to. I fuckin love this town.

I downloaded a whole new trove of stuff from Strictly Beats last week and I figured I should share some of the best. I’m currently in the thick of a ambient hip hop phase, apparently by the fact that I’ve had these guys on repeat for the past week.

Bibio’s stuff is a little too downtempo-ey for me right now, but this Letherette remix is perfect.

Letherette is two dudes who classify their music as “lounge/electro/disco house,” but they’ve ellicited a lot of comparisons to J Dilla – which, when I first read that, I practically choked cause who the hell could even begin to touch J Dilla – but dude, this shit is hot.

Found this track on Letherette’s myspace page and was like FUCK I need this – oh, whaddya know, it’s Machinedrum – if ya don’t know that story, ya don’t have to.

This song is like…. everything I can think of to describe it sounds real cheesy so I’ll just let you listen to it and decide for yourself.

I’ve already posted shit from Bahwee’s “Headnodders Vol 2,” and I recently got ahold of Bahwee’s “Flavors,” which is different but equally awesome. I posted a lil player below – def check out “Flight” (I’m obsessed) “HereisWhere” and “Breezy.”

And FINALLY, fuckin Eskmo. I’d heard good things and decided to check him out when he came to metronome and holy fuck his shit is SO GOOD.

Cloudlight, solid, off his self-titled full-legnth (I bought it the day after I saw him on itunes, then realized Eskmo had handed me a lil card with a link to a free download of it when we talked to him after the show. Fuckin A). I also really like “We Got More,” and “Gold and Stone.” Also, his EP “Willow Grail” is real dope and I’m fuckin obsessed with “Process.” I think you can find that song on youtube or just download the EP off itunes.
